A MALE customer shot a tombstone maker multiple times inside the Calamba Cemetery past 6 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021.

The victim is identified as Carl Eric Garces, a resident of Sitio Mahayahay 1, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

According to Police Major Eraño Regidor, head of the Sawang Police Station, Garces was shot in the head and chest with a .45 caliber pistol.

According to their investigation, Regidor said that the motive for shooting Garces was possibly due to a quarrel on Sunday, June 6, between the victim and a male customer who ordered Garces’ gravestone-making services.

The customer has reportedly paid Garces the full amount, but the gravestone was not yet finished, which made the customer angry. After a heated row, he returned on Monday morning and shot Garces several times.

Upon receiving a telephone call, the police responded and immediately got to the scene of the shooting incident, but the suspect only known as “Eddie Boy” was nowhere to be found.

Rejidor said that they have information on Eddie Boy’s whereabouts, which he did not disclose since the manhunt operation was still ongoing.

The family and relatives of the victim said they are positive that Garces’ killer was the male customer he had a row with. (AYB)
