BACOLOD City Police Office (BCPO) Director Manuel Placido ordered all the station commanders to strictly enforce the Executive Order (EO) 31 Series of 2021, which orders the conduct of strict precautionary measures to curb the recent spike of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of BCPO, said Tuesday, June 8, that the station commanders were directed to penalize the violators of Section 5 of the EO, which was issued by Mayor Evelio Leonardia on June 6, where persons below 18 years old are mandated to stay home except when engaged in essential services or by reason of employment.

Vulnerable sector members are also still under home quarantine. These include any person below 18 years old, those over 65 years old, with immunodeficiency, comorbidity or other health risks regardless of age, pregnant women, and any person who resides with all the aforementioned.

Gabana said the violators will be endorsed to the barangay and will be given a citation ticket.

“The person below 18 years old and those over 65 years old should stay home except when engaged in essential services, but if they will go out for leisure, they will be fined,” he said.

He said the violators of curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. will also be given a citation ticket, as well as the violators of the liquor ban.

For the period of this EO, the rules and regulations in the selling of liquor, wine, beer or any alcoholic or intoxicating beverage in public places shall continue to be allowed only from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

But the consumption of such alcoholic beverages in public places is totally banned and prohibited, it stated.

Gabana said as of June 7, BCPO arrested a total of 12 persons for violation of curfew hours and one for liquor ban.

“It is the instruction of our director to strictly enforce the EO 31 to address the Covid-19 cases in the city. We should cooperate to avoid penalty,” he said.
