It was a silver anniversary (25 years) and sportsfest called Titans Virtual Race and Father’s Day, that marked the double celebration for Paref Springdale School. No matter the global health restrictions that prevented community fellowship, the show must go on!

A first-of-its-kind in the Paref system, the Titans Virtual Race went full blast via Zoom meeting, and aimed to promote health, wellness and resiliency during these pandemic times. The activity was also a fund-raising project for Springdale’s various site development and the Student Body Organization’s (SBO) advocacies and outreach programs.

Having a little over 500 participants, the race events included walking, running, biking and swimming with various distances, with the participants required to perform their chosen category at their own time and pace. Period was between April 19 to May 2.

May 9 was Virtual Race Culmination Day which coincided with the school’s Father’s Day, a most eagerly anticipated annual event for Springdale’s family community. Dads were paid tribute as loving pillars of the home! For this occasion, a special Father-and-Son category was held wherein fathers and sons completed the race together.

Another online event had the theme “Heroes Arise,” wherein the Springdale community celebrated an ambience of cheerfulness and the culmination of the year-long competition between Anchor and Vinta, the two schoolhouses.

With fun games and exciting prizes, plus delightful numbers from the students, the Heroes theme focused on the efforts and sacrifices of our local heroes as they strive to maintain health and safety during these unprecedented times. Like the heroes we aspire to become, we can start by merely observing proper health protocols!

As a fitting end to this memorable day, a special online piece was dedicated to mothers, which marked International Mother’s Day!
