TO EFFECTIVELY disseminate information during disasters, Mandaue City has bought a mobile command center worth P22 million.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes himself inspected the mobile command center as it arrived in the city at noon on June 9, 2021.

During disasters, Cortes said, it has been their problem that the communication and information dissemination is not centralized.

With this mobile command center that will also respond at the disaster site, Cortes said this will serve as a hub for all the heads or commanders from the Mandaue City Fire Station, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), City Social Welfare and Services (CSWS) and barangay officials.

He said this will be where the officers will assess the situation and come up with a strategy that will be disseminated to the responders and volunteers.

This way, the source of information will be centralized.

Cortes said it will be easier for the commanders to monitor their personnel and their deployment.

He said the CSWS and the barangay officials are included in the relief operations so that they will have the same validated data on the affected individuals.

Cortes said this way, the city will have a more effective response to any disasters that will happen in the city.

Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede said Mandaue City is the first local government unit in the entire Cebu island province to purchase a mobile command center for effective disaster response.

The mobile command center is equipped with high technology tools.

Bercede said it has a built-in CCTV camera located outside the truck, monitors, computers, TV screens, a table for meetings and other communication equipment.

The mobile command center will be turned over to the CDRRMO once the stickers with the city’s logo will be placed on it.

The CDRRMO will be the one to operate and manage the mobile command center. (KFD)
