A woman was covered with injuries after a dog who got out of the house in Barangay Looc, Oslob town, Cebu, attacked her on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

Jeny Rose Gomilao, 16, a resident of the barangay, was on her way to gather shellfish for dinner, but her errand was disrupted when a Rottweiler attacked her.

Police Officer Elmer Ijan, desk officer of Oslob Police Station, told Superbalita Cebu that they received the report of the dog attack on Tuesday evening.

He said that the dog suddenly jumped over the gate of the house, the front of which was where Gomilao often gathered shellfishes.

He said that the dog, which was not leashed by the owner, was big enough to jump over the wall.

Witnesses said that the dog repeatedly attacked Gomilao and injuring her in several parts of her body.

The dog owner identified as “Tata” Kintanar Copper, tried to restrain the Rottweiler, but this continued to attack the teenager.

Gomilao was rushed to the nearest hospital in town for treatment.

After she went home to recover, the family was planning to bring her back to the hospital again because her wounds still kept bleeding.

As of writing, Gomilao’s family received P3,000 from the dog owner, which they consider not enough for the teenager’s treatment.

Reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries according to RA 9482 or Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 will be filed against the dog owner upon failure to support the treatment of the victim.
