2 farmers, trike driver nabbed in anti-drug stings

TWO farmers and a trike driver were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City and the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Inil Jalali, 52, and Romel Jalali, 23, both farmers; and, Roy Umpad, 40, a trike driver.

Chang said the Jalalis were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in Sitio Sun Rise in Talon-Talon village, Zamboanga City.

Recovered from the two were a gram of suspected shabu packed in eight heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated value of P6,800 and P200 marked money consisting of two P100 bills.

Chang said Umpad was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 10 p.m. Wednesday in Purok Santan A in San Jose village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Seized from Umpad were some P5,780 worth of suspected shabu packed in four heat-sealed plastic sachets and P500 marked money.

Chang said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs act of 2002 will be filed against the arrested suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
