Police nabbed Abu Sayyaf-linked kidnapper

LAWMEN have arrested in an intelligence-driven law enforcement operation in Zamboanga City an alleged kidnapper linked with the Abu Sayyaf bandits, the police reported Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspect as Jasmin Amil.

Ylagan said Amil was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of warrant of arrest around 6 a.m. Wednesday in Divisoria village, east of Zamboanga City.

He said Amil has a standing warrant of arrest of four-count kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by the court in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Ylagan said Amil has ties with Roger Kalas alias Abu Anhar and Ibno Tabullo alias Caro, who are allies of the Abu Sayyaf bandits based in the provinces of Basilan and Sulu.

Ylagan said that Amil, Kalas and Tabullo were in the following kidnapping incidents: kidnapping of Rex Triplet on September 16, 2020 in Tapayan village, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte; kidnapping of Roda couple (Rufo and Ellen) on August 31, 2018 in Piacan village, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte; kidnapping of seven members of Javier family on June 28, 2018 in San Nicolas village, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte; and, kidnapping of Jemar Duque, Roger Jung-an, Jojo Mantangan and Raymond Purisima on March 4, 2018 in San Nicolas village, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Amil was placed under the temporary custody of Sirawai Municipal Police Station for proper disposition, Ylagan said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
