Kaya FC-Iloilo picks Harvey as coach for AFC Champions League Play-Off

KAYA FC-Iloilo names Brit Graham Harvey as the club’s new head coach for its upcoming campaign in AFC Champions League.

Harvey will try to lead Kaya FC-Iloilo to a spot at the Group Stage of the AFC Champions League.

Kaya FC-Iloilo is in for a tough assignment against Chinese club Shanghai Port FC in the Play-Off round on Jun 23, 2021 at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

If victorious, Kaya FC-Iloilo will join Philippine Football League champion United City FC as the first Filipino football club in history to compete in the AFC Champions League.

The winner of the Kaya FC-Iloilo and Shanghai Port FC match will join Thai League titleholder BG Pathum United, South Korea’s Ulsan Hyudai and Vietnam’s Viettel FC.

Kaya FC-Iloilo, however, is the underdog against a very talented club in Shanghai Port FC, which fields players like Brazilian star Oscar, veteran Austrian striker Marko Anautovic, Brazilian forward Ricardo Lopes and Aussie midfielder Aaron Mooy.

Harvey is a very experienced coach. He has coached the Easter Long Lions FC, Western Pride FC, Loughborough University and the Witsunday Miners FC. He’s the current assistant coach of the Chinese Women’s Under-16 national team and has also worked as assistant coach for the Guam national team. (EKA)
