Another drug personality killed in Bacolod

A DAY after the killing of a drug personality in Bacolod City, another drug personality was shot to death by unidentified assailant on Galo Street, Barangay 12, Bacolod City Thursday evening, June 10, 2021.

Police identified the fatality as John King Porras, 34, a freelance makeup artist and resident of Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1, Bacolod.

Police Major Ramel Sarona, chief of Police Station 1, said the victim was sitting inside a tricycle when unidentified assailant on board a motorcycle fired at him around 9 p.m.

The victim sustained gunshot wound on his head. He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he did not survive, while the suspect fled towards San Juan Street.

Police recovered from scene of the crime an empty shell of .45 caliber revolver.

The police are eyeing illegal drugs as possible motive in the killing of the victim.

Sarona said Porras was included in the watchlist of Bacolod City Police Office. He was also a former drug surrenderer in the city.

He said the victim’s family also admitted that he was involved in illegal drugs. They believed that the victim had a transaction in the area of Galo Street.

He added the witnesses failed to determine the identity of the suspect because the perpetrator was wearing a helmet and a black jacket.

The investigators also managed to secure a copy of the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, but they failed to identify the suspect because of its helmet.

Sarona said they will coordinate with other business establishments along Galo Street to check their CCTV footages to identity the suspect.

On Wednesday evening, a drug personality was also shot to death by unidentified assailants in front of Barangay Estefania Hall in said village, Bacolod City.

Police identified the fatality as Danilo Sangcap Jr. of Barangay 7, Poblacion, Victorias City.

Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, chief of Police Station 4, earlier said the victim, who was on board a motorcycle, alighted from his motorcycle in front of Barangay Estefania Hall around 10:30 p.m.

Four unidentified suspects, who were on board a sports utility vehicle, also alighted and fired at him several times.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Batadlan said Sangcap, who was renting a house in Barangay Mandalagan, was identified as the number 4 drug personality in the area of Victorias City Police Station.

He said there was a possibility that Sangcap, a former seafarer, a son of a former policeman in Victorias and identified as a high-value target in Victorias City, had a transaction in the area of Barangay Estefania.

He was usually seen in the area delivering an item, which was also investigated.

The police already secured a copy of CCTV footage, but the footage of the camera was not clear enough to identify the suspects.
