WEATHER on Sunday, June 13, 2021, will remain cloudy with spots of a thunderstorm, a commercial weather forecaster said.

According to AccuWeather, Metro Cebu will have a 40 percent probability of rain and 24 percent of a thunderstorm.

Jhomer Eclarino, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) stationed in Mactan, Cebu said Metro Cebu can expect mostly cloudy to cloudy skies with a high chance of rain showers and thunderstorms in the next five days; though there will still be occasional fair weather due to monsoon breaks.

He also advised the public to always monitor the latest weather update and thunderstorms and rainfall advisories, as occasional heavy rains are possible which also brings the threat of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

The rainy season in the country has officially started last week.

Eclarini said the average temperature to be expected in the next five days is at 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Pagasa said the automatic rain gauge of the Department of Science and Technology in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City has recorded a total of 67 millimeters (mm) of rainfall on Saturday morning (6 a.m. to 10 a.m.), June 12.

This is equivalent to 335,000 barrels of rain per square kilometer as one mm of rain is equivalent to 5,000 barrels of rain per square kilometer.

Romeo Aguirre, weather specialist, also said they already recorded a total rainfall amount of 150.1 mm from June 1 to June 11.

Pagasa, earlier, said there is a big chance that Cebu will have an above normal rainfall (190.4 mm) amount for June, with the previous tropical storm Dante that brought 102.7 mm of rains in Cebu in just one day from 8 a.m. of June 1 to 8 a.m. of June 2.(WBS)
