Everyone has his own way of coping during the lockdown period. Some rekindle their love for an old hobby. Some became plantitas and plantitos. Others welcomed a new four-legged member to the family. However, particularly for that last group of people, one of a furparent’s struggles is catering to pet’s needs and essentials such as veterinary visits or monthly grooming appointments.

Anthony Suson, a marine operations officer, entrepreneur, dog parent and animal advocate, came up with a solution to address this dilemma by offering hassle-free pet care services at one’s doorstep through Clean Paws Co., Cebu’s first mobile grooming service.

“Because of all the Covid restrictions, I found it a bit hard to get my dogs groomed by our regular groomer at a local mall. When I talked to my friends about this, they’d had the same issues,” explained Anthony.

As a pet parent and animal welfare advocate, Anthony believes that regular grooming is a vital element to a pet’s overall health and wellbeing. He wishes to raise awareness, and break the common misconception that getting pets groomed is something that is not necessary, and is only for show dogs or long-haired dogs.

“It’s absolutely necessary to groom every pet—whether the fur is long or short—and make sure that they are clean and healthy. It’s beneficial for everyone in the house, and most importantly for their pet. With proper grooming, owners can eliminate mats, ticks, fleas, shedding, and stop other severe health conditions developing that they may have had no idea about. The most important part about regular grooming is that it affects a dog’s mental health as well. A good looking, good smelling dog with a nice haircut will make their dog feel good and fresh. This can affect their mental state and their behavior as well,” Anthony made clear.

The “grooming mobile” has everything one needs to pamper his beloved furbaby. Inside the air-conditioned mobile are a bath tub, a grooming table with harness, and all essentials tools for grooming.

How does it work? One just needs to book an appointment through its Facebook or Instagram page: @cleanpawsco.ph. Once a schedule is confirmed, the mobile grooming truck will go to one’s preferred location, and give pets individual attention and quality care in a calm, cage-free environment—all while saving time and hassle of going to the local pet salon.

Currently, Clean Paws Co. is based in Mandaue City and has one truck. However, it can cater to the whole of Metro Cebu and go as far as Naga in the south and Danao up north.

Cebu’s first mobile grooming service is ready to groom one’s dogs every day from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. It also has night time service available for those paw-rents that have busy day time schedules.
