GLOBE Telecom has warned the public of an illegal activity perpetuated by certain individuals and online stores which involves selling Globe At Home modems to unsuspecting customers with Dito stickers making them appear as Dito modems.

“It has come to our attention that certain individuals and retail establishments are illegally reselling and passing off as Dito Telecommunity modems several of our Globe At Home WiFi Modems,” Globe said Monday, June 14, 2021.

The modus is done through the unauthorized unlocking of the Globe device, substituting the Globe SIM with a Dito Telecommunity SIM and concealing the Globe At Home trademark with a sticker of Dito.

All Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi kits have pre-inserted SIMs in the modems ready for activation via the Globe At Home app or Facebook messenger upon purchase, the telco said.

“We are prepared to take the necessary legal action against these unscrupulous individuals and establishments carrying out these deceptive business practices, through the assistance of law enforcement authorities,” Globe said.

Globe advised those who have bought, experienced, or have been made aware of this illegal activity to report the matter to the Department of Trade and Industry--Consumer Protection Group via its email address at consumercare@dti.gov.ph or through its mobile number at 0917-834-3330.

The public may also report via Globe At Home’s official Facebook messenger.

“In addition, we are reminding the public to buy only from legitimate Globe At Home stores, authorized dealers and online sites to ensure quality and service guarantee.

Dito has yet to issue a statement on the said Globe advisory. (JOB)
