THE Asmara Urban Resort and Lifestyle Village hosted its third annual Open Tennis Tournament on June 11 to 13, 2021 at the Asmara Urban Resort tennis court.

Gathering a total of 77 participants for all the categories, the three-day event created noise among the national tennis community and garnered a lot of great feedback as most of the Philippines’ top-seed players competed against one another after almost two years of hiatus.

This year’s Professional Men-Singles category winner was one of the international top-seed players in the Junior category, Arthur Craig Pantino, who beat last year’s defending champion, Norman Joseph Enriquez.

Both winners received a trophy made of bamboo and designed by Carlo Cordaro. They were awarded by Acting Vice Mayor Hon. Donaldo “Dondon” Hontiveros.

Other winners include Josshua Kinaadman and partner Vinz Lominoque for the Professional Men-Doubles Category, with runner-up Jacob Lagman and Arthur Craig Pantino.

Elizabeth Abarquez won the women’s singles category with runner-up Tiffany Claire Nocos, while Shayne Villareal together with Abarquez won the doubles against Zethley Mae Alferez and Feb Nicole Villar.

Carlo Cordaro, founder and creative director of the resort, said it was a pleasure hosting the tournament, especially with the high-caliber players who registered and the crowd that attended to witness the event.

The Asmara Urban Resort and Lifestyle Village, together with its partners Cebu Fil-Veneer, Atelier- A, Cebu Landmasters, Asmara Lifestyle Hotel, Cables Specialist and Wilson Sports Philippines, with the support of the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Department of Tourism, managed to pull off the event in a short period of time.
