Oro mayor: No stricter regulations imposed in barangays

NO STRICTER measures will be imposed in every barangay of Cagayan de Oro despite the city still under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno believes that the public should not rely on regulations to keep them from violating the health protocols, saying too much regulation becomes ineffective in the end, especially on sustainable basis.

Let the people themselves guard their communities," he added.

The mayor said that at present, sustaining programs is more crucial than enforcing regulations for quick result.

"Kining pandemic, this is not a dash, that the faster you are, the better," Moreno said.

Cagayan de Oro remains under MECQ until June 30, 2021.

Moreno said there are sectors that expressed worry over the possibility of the city being placed in a higher quarantine level.

Moreno said the city has shown some improvements, especially in the vaccination rollout.
