THE present state of the city to be on high-risk put people on pause, but this cease did not stop the Junior Chamber International-Davao Inc. (JCI Davao) from launching their annual search for the Most Outstanding High School Graduate (MOHSG) in Davao City last May 8, 2021 through an online conference meeting.
Now in its 54th year, students from 22 senior high schools of Davao City participated and listed their best nominee for the longest running and most prestigious honor in the region. The circumstances brought by the pandemic tested every contender on how yearning they were to clinch the title of being the most outstanding high school graduate.
The continued effect of the pandemic this year has compelled the organizing committee of MOHSG program to conduct its series of activities in a virtual set-up to guarantee the safety of each nominee while ensuring the same level of engagement and participation with that of its face to face version of activities last year.
“This situation has pushed our limits and made us more creative in conducting our activities in the digital space that will fit for our participants who belong in the Generation Z,” said Romeo B. Batestil Jr., the 2021 MOHSG’54 chairman.
To be a MOHSG, aspirants should exhibit the best they can be in their scholastic achievements, skills and talents for them to grab the laurel of Most Outstanding High School of Graduate of Davao; that could lead them to be the catalyst of change that have great contribution in our community.
“Consistent with its mission for the past 54 years, the MOHSG program continues to recognize senior high school graduates who not only possess academic excellence but also active leadership and involvement in school and community affairs,” Batestil added.
In this journey, the passions will be disported and advocacies will be voiced out. Through the series of activities, nominees will be manifesting their leadership and logical skills while building bonds and friendship with one another.
The diversity of point-of-views, characters and beliefs will teach all and sundry that could lead them to become a great team.
Aspiring students passed through a stringent selection process through a series of activities, which included panel interviews from the submitted scholastic achievement portfolios and digital contents which are anchored on UNSDG (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals).
There will be chosen Top 10 Finalists that will compete for Self-Introductory and Impromptu Speaking Contest during the main event culmination that was settled on June 26, 2021 via Zoom Online Meeting Application with integration to Facebook live.
The grand winner shall be determined based on cumulative scores from activities, panel interview and impromptu speaking judged by notable members of the local community.
This search of the Most Outstanding High School Graduate has become an institution of recognizing the city’s best youth role models since its establishment in 1965. Most of its past winners and participants are now very successful in their own fields of expertise. (PR)
