ANGELES CITY -- The local government said that two Covid-19 patients have died based on reports submitted on the first two days of September.

As of August 2, 2020, the city recorded a total of 17 fatalities due to the novel coronavirus.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. earlier ordered the banning of gatherings including birthday parties due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the city.

The mayor said the City Health Office has listed 336 total number of Covid-19 cases, as of August 2.

Some 139 patients had recovered and 180 are now under treatment in different hospitals in the city and government facilities in Clark, according to Lazatin.

Of the 336 total cases, the local chief executive said 180 cases were transmitted locally and five outside the city.

Lazatin reminded the residents to observe quarantine protocols like social distancing, wearing face masks and shields to prevent infection.

The mayor said more than 1,000 individuals were issued citation tickets by the city government for violating government health guidelines.
