Imelda district hospital ‘93.14 percent complete’

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the construction of the district hospital in the town of Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay is now 93.14 percent completed.

The DPWH regional office said in a statement that the construction of the P49.4-million medical facility is done to help address the shortage of hospital beds due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

The DPWH said the project, which is to further augment Zamboanga Sibugay's healthcare facilities, is located in Santa Barbara village, Imelda.

Imelda, which comprises of 18 villages, is a fourth-class municipality in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay with a population of 28,018 as of the 2015 census.

The construction of the hospital is being implemented by the Zamboanga Sibugay's First District Engineering Office.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of this year, according to the DPWH regional office.

Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Wilter Palma said Thursday, June 17, that the completion of the district hospital in Imelda will boost the delivery of healthcare services in the town and its neighboring municipalities.

Palma noted that the district hospital was established to provide healthcare services in areas where access is limited. (SunStar Zamboanga)
