THE Covid-19 pandemic has sparked the interest of consumers to own cars as they avoid mass transportation. And this is giving car dealers an opportunity to introduce new car models that suit today’s preferences.

Andre Borromeo, general manager of Fairlane Automotive Ventures Inc. (Favi), said they remain competitive in the market with quality vehicles ranging from the small car segment like the Ford Ecosport to the best-selling Ford Ranger.

“The industry is actually a mixed market now. Because of the pandemic, the small car segment actually grew. A lot of customers who didn’t have vehicles in the past now want to own a car as many don’t want to ride public transportation,” he said.

He said looking at the whole economy of the business of private transportation, the motorcycle and small car businesses have both gone up.

Borromeo said the industry is seeing signs of picking up and is banking on the vaccination rollout to return business to the pre-pandemic levels.

Favi operates 17 Ford dealerships in the Visayas and Mindanao areas.

Borromeo said they are grateful to Ford for continuously introducing new models.

“In the car industry, for us to be competitive, we need to launch new models. We cannot stay and keep the same models for years. It’s really to excite consumers to visit the dealerships and see what is new. Ford is doing the same thing,” Borromeo said.

Ford Talisay

Favi recently opened Ford Talisay, the 50th dealership facility of Ford Philippines in the country.

This new showroom is expected to expand the Ford brand further in Cebu, reaching more customers and giving them access to Ford’s segment-leading vehicles and the Ford ownership experience.

Ford Talisay has a total floor area of 1,397 square meters that can accommodate a seven-car showroom display and 11 service bays with provision for future expansion.

“Opening our 50th dealership facility in the country is a special milestone for Ford Philippines and for our growing customer base in Cebu,” said Michael Breen, managing director of Ford Philippines.

Ford Talisay is open from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for both its sales and service operations. It is located along the Cebu South Road Properties Road, Cansojong, Talisay City, Cebu. (JOB)
