METRO Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) and Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply (MIB), subsidiaries of the Metro Pacific Water Group, provided Covid-19 relief to the Ilonggo community during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) through the provision of goods and necessities.

Mayor Jerry Treñas thanked MPIW’s Commercial Division head John Cañonero and Felipe Ganancial, representative of MIB, who turned over 11 sacks of rice, 21 boxes of canned goods, nine boxes of noodles, and four boxes of toiletries in Jaro Plaza June 14.

The initiative is in line with MPIW’s corporate social responsibility flagship project Tatap Ilonggo, which aims to safeguard communities in Metro Iloilo and neighboring municipalities through water, sanitation, and hygiene-related programs.

Earlier, 20 handwashing facilities were installed by MPIW team in various public centers, schools, and local government units (LGUs).

“MPIW has the unwavering will to support our partner stakeholders and the Ilonggo community in the middle of this challenging time. Rest assured that we are ready to support the community in our best capacity,” said Cañonero.

Numerous families in Iloilo City have been greatly affected by economic impact brought about by pandemic and surge of Covid-19 cases in the past weeks.

“MPIW and MIB show their care to the community by providing these goods. They are not only water utility companies but partners of local government as well,” said Randy Pastolero, executive assistant for utilities.

MPIW will continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of its consumers in the fight against Covid-19 through its corporate sustainability and disaster relief efforts. (PR)
