DOLE: Camp financial aid for Zamboanga now available

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Zamboanga Peninsula announced that qualified beneficiaries of its Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (Camp) for the education sector may now claim their P5,000 cash assistance through any of the Universal Storefront Services Corporation (USSC) branch in the region.

Lawyer Roy Buenafe, DOLE regional director, made the announcement after DOLE Central Office allotted more budget to pay the pending approved applications under Camp.

“We already paid a total of P760,000 for 152 beneficiaries in the first tranche sometime in December 2020. We had to stop the payout because the budget was already exhausted. But the good news is that there is enough cash now to pay the remaining 581 beneficiaries,” Buenafe said.

Buenafe said beneficiaries will receive a notification from USSC to claim their cash assistance.

Those residing in the municipality of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur may claim their assistance from BETTER U Boutique in Poblacion village while those from the town of Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte from the Rural Bank of Manukan.

Buenafe reminded the public that only those whose applications were approved will be paid.

“To determine the status of application, employees may coordinate with their employers,” he added.

He also reminded beneficiaries that they have at least 45 days or until July 27 to claim their Camp financial assistance at USSC.

The Camp is one-time financial support for displaced teaching and non-teaching personnel in private and public elementary, secondary and tertiary education institutions; part-time faculty in state universities and colleges; and displaced trainers and assessors in public and private technical vocational institutions and assessment centers.
