UnivFair at SM City

FORUMS on Association of Southeast Asian Nations integration (Asean) and Kinder to 12 Years Enhanced Basic Education (K-12) program will be the main concerns in the University Fair(U-Fair), which will open on Thursday until July 11 at the SM City Ecoland, Davao City.

U-Fair is the region's largest gathering of different schools in the country.

"This year, we intend to inject forums on the K-12 program as well as the Asean integration and career talk. The U-Fair is mounted not only for High School students, but also, graduate school and opportunities for further studies will be available,” said mall manager Lynette Lopez.

A total of five forums will be staged during the three-day fair: 21st Century Skills for Asean Integration by Mindanao Development Authority, Passion and Sense of Purpose, The road less travelled/non diploma opportunities by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), K-12 Readiness by Department of Education, and On Overcoming Challenges by Rusty Quintana of Xavier University.

Career Talk by JCI will also be conducted. On its 3rd run, U-Fair will showcase 19 academic and technical institutions from around the country featuring their best practices and programs.

"We are always excited to open the University Fair. In terms of exhibitor participation, this year is the biggest yet. We are expecting 19 institutions, 10 of which are from outside Davao,” Lopez said.

Among the out-of-town institutions that will participate in the fair are De La Salle of Saint Benilde, Silliman University of Dumaguete, International Academy of Film and Television, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Ateneo de Cagayan-Xavier University, Mapua Institute of Technology, National University, SOFA Design Institute, Raffles Institute and University of Sto. Tomas.

Participating Davao-based schools are Ateneo de Davao University, University of Immaculate Concepcion, University of Mindananao, Philippine Women's University, Fashion Institute of Design and Arts, Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship, Center for Asian Culinary Arts, Davao Doctor's College and MOST Institute of Davao.
