1 dead, 6 injured in Pinamungajan car crash

ONE died and six were injured after a Toyota Hilux pickup hit a motorcycle and crashed into a house in Sitio Banban, Barangay Pandacan in Pinamungajan town, Cebu past 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Glecedo Cuizon, 47, married, a salesman residing in Purok Avocado in the same barangay, was riding his Honda Wave motorcycle when he was hit. The pickup was driven by Joseph Lucerna, 51, from Tungkop, Minglanilla.

From their investigation, Police Staff Sergeant Jerame Navarro and Police Corporal Hajie Pacquioa found out that Lucerna was driving fast going to Minglanilla.

He overtook several cars and eventually lost control of his vehicle. He went over the opposite lane and hit Cuizon.

The impact threw Cuizon to the side of the road and wrecked his motorcycle.

Lucerna’s vehicle then hit a couple of coconut trees and a civilian who was sitting outside his house, Warren dela Rosa Delarmente, 48.

The pickup then crashed into Delarmente’s house.

Injured in the incident were Lucerna; Theresa Lucerna, 52, married; Mary Mae Lucerna, 24, a bookkeeper; Nenalyn Moreno, 30; and Christian Moreno, 30, a call center agent.

They are all from Tungkop, Minglanilla. They all came from a fiesta in Sitio Baybay, Barangay Pandacan, Pinamungajan.

The victims were rushed to the Pinamungajan District Hospital, but Cuizon was declared dead on arrival.

Joseph is now under the custody of the Pinamungajan police. (GPL/NRC)
