GOVERNOR Dennis Pineda personally handed over to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar the vehicles, motorcycles, ammunition and guns reserved for the province's Highway Patrol Group (HPG).

The new equipment aims to boost the capacity of HPG in maintaining peace and security in Pampanga and to increase the capacity of the local police in responding to security concerns.

The equipment include two Ford Ranger Raptor 2021 models, 4 BMW F750GS, 10 units Roni Conversion Kit, 10 units Glock 17 Gen 5, and 3,000 rounds of ammunition.

The PNP chief was thankful for the donations to the police personnel.

Eleazar was in Pampanga on Monday, June 21, in a series of visits with the local PNP hierarchy and community leaders.

New quarantine facility

Meanwhile, a brand new quarantine facility for Central Luzon policemen with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) was inaugurated on Monday, June 21.

Eleazar and Pineda led the inauguration of the facility inside the Camp Olivas grounds in the City of San Fernando.

The facility, built from repurposed container vans, has eight air-conditioned rooms complete with beds and own comfort rooms.

The isolation center exclusive for use of policemen who contracted the virus while on duty is the third inaugurated inside the camp.

It was built by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon through the assistance of the Provincial Government of Pampanga.

PRO-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon said the expansion of the quarantine facilities inside the police camp is a continuing effort of the organization to help the government’s program to contain, reduce, and prevent the transmission of Covid-19 among policemen in the region.

“We always say 'prevention is better than cure' that is why we have to maximize our efforts in finding ways and means to fight this invisible foe as we cannot afford to lose to Covid-19. These facilities will make our personnel feel that the PRO3 Command cares and supports its personnel especially during times of difficulties and crisis. As we care for others, we value ours," he said.
