Japan Foundation offers test for basic Japanese

THE JFT-Basic, or Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese, is a newly established exam by the Japan Foundation to measure the level of Japanese language proficiency needed to communicate in everyday life situations.

It is used to assess whether a person has the Japanese language proficiency to be able to engage in everyday conversation to a certain extent and handle daily life without difficulties.

It is a computer-based test that can be taken up to six times a year. This means that test takers may receive their test scores immediately after the test is over, then print their Score Notification which serves as their test certificate. Moreover, the JFT-Basic can be used to fulfill the Japanese Language requirement when applying for the Specified Skilled Worker (i) visa.

For more information on the JFT-Basic, one can visit this link: https://www.jpf.go.jp/jft-basic/e/index.html.
