Barmm allocates P4M for indigent patients

THE Ministry of Social Services and Development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-Barmm) has allocated P4 million to two hospitals to cater to the needs of indigent patients.

Lawyer Raissa Jajuri, MSSD minister, said the recipient hospitals were the Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital and Maguindanao Provincial Hospital that will receive P2 million each.

Jajurie said the fund allocation is intended for hospitalization expenses, medicines, medical treatment and procedures, including laboratory, CT-scan, dialysis, MRIs, anti-retroviral therapy, and chemotherapy of the identified and validated poor and eligible beneficiaries.

Jajurie said the social intervention is under the MSSD's Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situation (B-Cares).

Jajurie, Maguindanao Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Chief Elizabeth Samama, and Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital Chief Ibrahim Pangato Jr. have signed memorandum of agreements (MOAs) for the implementation of the program in their respective hospitals.

Earlier this month, the MSSD also signed MOAs with Community Health Services Cooperative Hospital (Cohesco) in Midsayap, North Cotabato and Dr. R.A.M Albutra General Hospital in Kabacan, in the same province.

Each hospital will receive P1 million to cater the indigent patients in Special Geographic Area of Barmm. (SunStar Zamboanga)
