59 Cagayan de Oro residents contract coronavirus

THE Cagayan de Oro Health Office recorded 59 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, two of which were locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and 57 were local transmission.

This brought the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 4,733.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 57 new local cases, 28 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, nine were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), 17 were local index cases and three deaths.

Of the 4,733 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 436 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 4,297 cases were local transmissions.

Nery said the 4,297 local cases consist of 221 persons deprived of liberty (PDL), 2,212 local index cases and 1,862 local cases with link.

Cagayan de Oro logged 360 active cases, 99 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 257 were outpatients, and four were ROFs/LSIs.

The city also registered 12 new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 4,159, with an 87.87-percent recovery rate.

Of the figure, 308 were LSIs, 122 were ROFs, and 3,729 were local cases (community: 3,167; Apors: 562).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was at 214.
