Satellite voter registration in mall set June 25

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City will conduct satellite voter registrations in two malls in the city starting Friday, June 25, 2021.

City Election Registrar Kathrina Cana said they will hold satellite registration at SM City Bacolod Friday for the May 2022 national and local elections. The satellite registration in the said mall will continue on June 26, July 9 and 10.

On July 3, she said they will hold the satellite registration at City Mall-Mandalagan.

“Since we cannot conduct a satellite voter registration in barangays, due to the rising coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, we opted to have satellite registration in malls to increase the number of registrants to be accommodated in the city,” she added.

Cana noted that during the satellite registration on June 25 and July 9, the Comelec office near the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center (BaysCenter) will be closed because the voter registration will be held in SM City Bacolod.

Registrants should bring their valid government identification cards (ID) with pictures and signatures, as well as an original and photocopy of their birth certificate.

If their residence is not stated on the ID, they should bring proof of their residence or billing statements, like water bills or electric bills.

The satellite registration will start from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cana said they will ensure that health protocols will be observed in the venues such as wearing of face masks, face shields and social distancing.
