LOCAL government units (LGUs) and several individuals from the province of Pampanga have paid tribute to former president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III following his passing on Thursday morning, June 24, 2021.

The national colors at the Provincial Capitol and city halls of Angeles, San Fernando and Mabalacat, as well as other LGUs and public places were flown half-mast as a symbol of mourning for his death.

Local officials and private individuals also shared through their social media accounts their fond memories with Aquino, most of which were during his visit to the province.

Among which is a photo of Aquino's visit to Sto. Niño Elementary School and City College of San Fernando back in 2012, which was shared by the City Information Office here.

"Maraming salamat sa iyong liderato at sa serbisyong ibinigay mo sa buong bansa, maging sa mga Fernandinos," the caption read.

The provincial government headed by Governor Dennis Pineda expressed gratitude to Aquino for all the programs and projects implemented during the late president's administration.

This includes P30 billion worth of various projects, including the P15-billion funds for the construction of Clark International Airport; P6-billion flood-mitigation projects; P32 million worth of projects downloaded to LGUs; and more than 20,000 Kapampangans who were included in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

"We will always remember PNoy as a Champion of Good Governance as he leads the Philippines in becoming the country with the fastest-growing economy in Asia during his administration," the Facebook post of the Provincial Information Office read.
