Mabalacat City lauded for fast vaccine rollout

PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on Flagship Programs and Projects and Deputy Chief Implementer of the National Action Plan Against Covid-19 Secretary Vince Dizon has lauded the city government's vaccination program during his ocular inspection at the SM City Clark Vaccination Site on June 26, 2021.

In an interview, Dizon expressed his confidence to Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, naming the city as among the top Pampanga local government units with promising Covid-19 response and fast vaccination process.

Dizon added that Mabalacat City is the first city in the Philippines to forge a partnership with an economic zone through Clark Development Corporation.

"This is to spur vaccination initiatives for its workers and locators as it hosts 94 percent of the Clark Freeport Zone," he said.

With emphasis on the vaccine distribution among LGUs, Dizon made it clear that the national government prioritizes big cities inside and outside the National Capital Region (NCR), where the risk and record of community transmission are high. This is in reference to the recorded Covid-19 surge from March to May.

Moreover, more than 12 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in July and Mabalacat City is one of the priority cities to be supplied with adequate number of doses, being clustered under the NCR Plus 8.

“Noong una medyo may mga challenges pero ngayon ang Mabalacat ay two days in a row na na above 1,000 to 1,500 [vaccination turnout per day] at mukhang kakayanin pa hanggang 2,000 plus,” said Dizon, expressing his confidence in Mabalacat City's vaccination program.

For his part, Mabalacat City mayor expressed his elation over the commitment of Dizon to provide additional supplies of Covid-19 vaccines for the city.

Mabalacat City has begun the inoculation of A3 and A4 priority groups. Meanwhile, the launch of the online registration is set for this coming week.

Just recently, the Department of Health has also vowed to double the jabbing capacity of the city government.

With sufficient doses, Mayor Garbo added that the city government will be able to inoculate more than 200,000 Mabalaqueños which is enough to achieve herd immunity before the Christmas season.
