Anti-drug stings net 2 suspects

TWO persons, including a high-value target, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City and in nearby province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Monday, June 28.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Ireneo Saldua Jr., a number 7 priority target in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, and Musal Sahirin, 30.

Chang said Saldua was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 4:58 p.m. Sunday, June 27, in Siay village, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Recovered from Saldua were a gram of shabu worth P6,800, illegal drug paraphernalia, P60 cash in different denominations, and P500 marked money

Sahirin, on the other hand, was arrested in another anti-drug operation around 2:39 p.m. Sunday, June 27, on Omar Drive in Arena Blanco village, Zmaboanga City.

Seized from Sahirin were P5,400 worth of shabu and P200 marked money consisting of two P100 bills.

Chang said formal charges are set to be filed against the arrested suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
