THE provincial government is expecting the arrival of additional 34,000 doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines this week.

This was revealed Monday, June 28, 2021, by lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, as he reported the improvement in the turnout of the ongoing vaccination program of the province in terms of the public response.

Diaz added Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and the Department of Health (DOH) are happy with the new system they used in distributing the vaccines. The DOH said it will provide more allocations of vaccines for the province.

The provincial government has also started its rollout of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines Monday morning at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) and the Negros Residences in Bacolod City.

Diaz said at the TLJPH, there were 340 Silay City residents who got inoculated. A total of 445 from Talisay City, 35 from Hinigaran, and 200 from Silay City residents received their Pfizer jabs at the Negros Residences.

He said at the TLJPH, the process of inoculation was quick that by 2 p.m., it had already finished administering vaccines to designated individuals.

The provincial official said the distribution of Pfizer vaccines will last until Friday, with Friday specifically scheduled for the inoculation of government employees.

"At 1,000 [inoculations] a day, we'll be able to inoculate 5,000 people by Friday," Diaz said.

Only half of the 1,950 vials of Pfizer vaccines will be used, as the other half will be saved up for the second dose that would happen after 28 days.

Diaz said 315 residents coming from the towns of Manapla, Toboso, Calatrava and Cadiz City will be inoculated at the TLJPH and another 672 from Murcia, Candoni, La Castellana, Don Salvador Benedicto, Valladolid, and La Carlota City will receive their jabs Tuesday at the Negros Residences.

Diaz said the majority of vaccine recipients were indigents and senior citizens. Their respective local government units were responsible for shuttling the individuals.

He further added the status of those vaccinated with Pfizer is being monitored prior to being allowed to return home.
