ILOILO City’s calls for help for Covid-19 response from the National Government have been answered, and assistance will be underway Thursday, July 1, 2021.

No less than Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and Secretary Carlito Galvez, chief implementer of National Task Force Against Covid-19, are expected to arrive July 1 with a ceremonial turnover at the Freedom Grandstand.

They will bring with them additional Covid-19 vaccines and equipment to boost capacities in managing Covid-19 cases.

Mayor Jerry Treñas thanked the National Government for supporting the Ilonggos in addressing the pandemic.

He noted the secretaries earlier called to inform that they are looking for solutions for: 1) lack of vaccines; 2) PhilHealth problem of unpaid bills to hospitals amounting to almost P1 billion; 3) lack of medical personnel;

4) lack of Covid medicines; and 5) lack of equipment like ventilators and high flow oxygen cannula.

“They also informed me that they are coming to Iloilo City with the needed supplies and solutions. I will wait for them to come here so that I will know how these problems can be resolved for my beloved Ilonggos. May God be with us all. Thank you!” said Treñas.

Various sectors earlier called on the National Government to extend help amid the Covid-19 surge. (PR)
