A 41-YEAR-OLD man was arrested by authorities for allegedly blackmailing a 24-year-old woman, threatening to upload her nude photos and videos on social media during an entrapment operation in Mabalacat City on Monday, June 28, 2021.
Pampanga Police Provincial Office Director Colonel Arnold Ibay identified the suspect as Rowel Solomon of Sto. Rosario town in Nueva Ecija.
Solomon allegedly posed as the handler of the victim identified as "Charice," wherein he offered a job of performing lewd acts online with high compensation to the victim.
"The suspect also asked the victim to have actual sexual intercourse with a certain 'Jay' and record their sexual act and send it to their handler in exchange for P600,000 but the victim refused," Ibay reported.
The victim then continuously received messages from the suspect threatening her that if she fails to do so, her nude screenshot videos will be spread on social media, prompting the victim to report the incident.
Upon receiving the report, joint elements of Pampanga Police, Anti-Cyber Crime Unit-Central Luzon and Mabalacat Police launched an entrapment operation against the suspect at Sogo Hotel, Barangay Dau, Mabalacat City, leading to the immediate arrest of Solomon.
Appropriate charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion), Republic Act (RA) 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Vouyerism Act of 2009) and RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2009) are being readied against the suspect.
