PNP vows to cooperate in probe on abduction of 3 young men

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has vowed to fully cooperate with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which is investigating the alleged involvement of some policemen in the abduction of three individuals in Manila last April, PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar said on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

“Seryosong alegasyon po ito na dapat nating tutukan. But at this point, let us allow the investigation of the NBI to take its course at huwag po muna sana nating agad husgahan ang ating kapulisan,” Eleazar said in a statement.

“Tinitiyak ko naman na sa oras na mapatunayan na totoong may nagkamali sa aming hanay, hindi natin ito palalagpasin,” he added.

The NBI arrested on June 8, 2021 two brothers in Batangas City over the abduction of 23-year-old Rexcell John Hipolito; Ronald Jae Dizon, 21; and 18-year-old Ivan Serrano on April 7, 2021 in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The suspects admitted to the kidnapping and tagged several policemen, who have allegedly killed Hipolito, Dizon and Serrano.

They said they worked as police assets and the three missing persons were allegedly peddlers of marijuana.

The NBI is looking into the possibility of placing the brothers under the government’s witness protection program. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
