Village exec killed in gun attack

A VILLAGE official was shot and killed while the suspects were arrested in a manhunt operation in the province of Basilan, the police reported.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Julpikar Sitin, chief of the Isabela City Police Station, identified the victim as Hadji Ibno Amirin, a councilor of Lukbuton village, Isabela City, Basilan.

Sitin said that Amirin was aboard a van when waylaid by the suspects around 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, in San Rafael village, Isabela City.

The suspects were identified as Hamrad Umbac Aisal and Benjimar Aisal Gobil.

Amirin managed to write the suspects’ names in a piece of paper just before he died while under treatment at a hospital, said Sitin.

He said they launched a manhunt operation and arrested the two suspects around 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, or barely five hours after the incident, in Aguada village, Isabela City.

Sitin said business rivalry could be the motive in the shooting. (SunStar Zamboanga)
