Drug syndicate member, 2 others nabbed

THREE people, including a drug syndicate member, were arrested while illegal drugs and a firearm were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga Sibugay province and Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday, June 2, 2021.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Al-Jamie Sakilan, 18, a member of Gingging Calon drug group; and, Baser Salih, 30; and Samira Nasa, 27.

Ylagan said Sakilan was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 1, in Purok Gemelina, Sanito village, Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said Sakilan yielded some 1.96 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated worth of P13,328, six pieces of P1,000 bill boodle money topped with genuine P300 marked money consisting of one P200 bill and one P100 bill, a cellular phone, and a motorcycle.

Salih and Nasa were caught in possession of some P10,200 worth of suspected shabu when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, July 1, in Purok 5, Labuan village, Zamboanga City, according to Ylagan.

He said that also seized from the two were a caliber .45 pistol with six live ammunition, two coin purses, and P200 marked money.

He said that charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
