THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Central Visayas recently released P6.8 million to more than 1,000 beneficiaries in Cebu who worked under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad).

In Cebu City, a total of 1,221 Tupad workers received their reference codes from DOLE-Central Visayas at Fort San Pedro. They can use the codes to claim their salaries at any branch of DOLE's partner-money remittance center.

According to Emmanuel Y. Ferrer, head of DOLE-Central Visayas' Tri-City Field Office, the beneficiaries who came from 64 barangays in Cebu City worked for 10 days by disinfecting and sanitizing public areas in their respective barangays.

He said that each beneficiary received P4,040. This means that DOLE-Central Visayas released P4.93 million for their salaries.

In the City of Naga, 338 Tupad workers also received their reference codes.

Vivencio Lagahid, in charge of the Cebu Provincial Field Office, said that the beneficiaries worked for 14 days by doing sanitation activities in their community.

“Each beneficiary was paid P404.00 per day so each of them, after completing their work, received P5,656 for their salary,” he said.

DOLE-Central Visayas released P1.91 million for their salaries. The distribution of reference codes was done at the Tennis Court in the City of Naga.

DOLE-Central Visayas Director Salome O. Siaton distributed the reference codes to beneficiaries during the Caravan of Government Services led by Cebu Provincial Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia.

She said that Tupad workers were not only provided with personal protective equipment but were also covered with a Group Personal Accident Insurance of the GSIS for one year.

Field offices of DOLE in Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Bohol also released reference codes to Tupad beneficiaries in their respective areas while following health protocols, she said. (PR)
