DA, SBMA discuss agri-quarantine procedures, inspection in Subic

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) discussed and assessed the plan for the Agricultural Commodity Examination Area (ACEA) in Subic Bay Freeport Zone early this week.

The meeting was led by Secretary William Dar with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairperson and Administrator Wilma Eisma at the Building 229, Waterfront Rd, Olongapo, Zambales on July 1.

ACEA is the tentative name of the project that aims to strengthen the agricultural quarantine inspection procedures at the first border by implementing a thorough inspection of containerized agricultural commodities based on the Risk Assessment Categorization list complemented by the X-ray screening.

Local agricultural producers such as farmers, fishers, and livestock raisers will also be benefitting from this project.

In addition, the activity was attended by Undersecretary for Livestock William Medrano, Regional Executive Director Crispulo Bautista Jr. and Bureau of Animal Industry OIC-Director Dr. Reildrin Morales.
