Abrigo: Storm in PDP goblet

HISTORY and tradition taught us that party mates at loggerheads is nothing personal but a showoff to gather a number, sufficient to install winnable prospects for the upcoming national derby.

The brewing rift between the two heads of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) is a typical scenario and expected, knowing that both pat its own pet.

We cannot compare the two according to the background of President Rodrigo Duterte (PDP Chairperson) and Senator Manny Pacquiao (PDP President). But as both talk about contemporary corruption, we can rate their honesty both in words and propulsion.

Without the sense of comparison as both are incomparable, Duterte came from a well-off family and grew with a golden spoon. He enjoyed everything including the privilege to carry a handgun at an early age which an ordinary citizen does not.

As a veteran lawyer, he can play words of any worth as he wishes at any given situation. His bearing has command, worth venerated.

On the other hand, without comparing still, Pacquiao grew from an obscure sitio in Kibawe at the heartland of Mindanao. He was an ordinary farmer who could hardly even own a tool to till the piece of land his parents tenanted.

That experience pushed him to work hard under a stringent self-discipline. His astute mind coordinates well with his flexes on when to throw his left hook and hard punches.

Although poverty lingered his scholastic attainment, his self-discipline at an early age made him a billionaire and a public servant.

He shared his hard-earned bounty, no mire of corruption in using public funds.

Duterte is known as an iron fist, Pacquaio is known for golden belts in many divisions.

The storm inside PDP camp is raging, but Pacquaio maintains he has no misgivings to president Duterte.

When his left hook extended to DOH, DSWD, and others, it is because he wanted to help the President in the in-house cleaning.

May the storm inside the goblet will not split the party, or if it does, may the best of them win!
