THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Western Visayas is reviewing the performance of the agency’s provincial offices in the region during the first semester of the year.

The two-day Regional Formative Assessment and Planning Conference led by DAR-Western Visayas Director lawyer Sheila Enciso is being held in Bacolod City until Tuesday, July 6.

Enciso, in her message, said the agency is not just looking at the major final outputs, especially physical accomplishments, but also its financial funds in order to align both in the utilization aspects.

“This is in preparation for the upcoming national assessment to be conducted by the DAR Central Office,” she said, adding that “we will also look into the welfare of our personnel as well as plan our strategies and activities in the next six months.”

The regional director is upbeat that the activity will enable them “to continuously serve our stakeholders, most especially our farmer-beneficiaries even amid this pandemic.”

DAR-Western Visayas Assistant Directors Gideon Umadhay Jr. and Lucrecia Taberna were also present in the formative assessment.

It was attended by different Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers of various operating units all over Western Visayas, and the Regional Office Sectoral heads.

Also joining virtually were the regional and provincial offices technical and support group.

With Negros Occidental under general community quarantine (GCQ), the activity complied with the protocols set by the authorities.

DAR is the lead government agency that holds and implements comprehensive and genuine agrarian reform that actualizes equitable land distribution, ownership, agricultural productivity, and tenurial security for the tillers of the land to improve their lives.
