Negros Occidental, Bacolod get 20,000 more doses of Sinovac vaccines

AN ADDITIONAL 20,000 doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines arrived in Bacolod City from the National Government Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Of the additional vaccines that arrived, seven boxes that contained 10,000 vials are for Bacolod City and the other 10,000 vials are for Negros Occidental.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), said the city received an additional 10,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines and brought them immediately to the cold storage facility at the Bacolod Government Center.

He said the vaccines will be administered to the healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3) eligible priority groups who have yet to receive Covid-19 vaccine jabs.

In June, Bacolod City received a total of 39,800 doses of Sinovac vaccines.

Emergency Operations Center (EOC) records showed from March to July 6, 2021, Bacolod has received a total of 93,540 doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines from the National Government.

As of July 2, the Covid-19 Vaccination Council (CoVac), chaired by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, has administered a total of 68,954 doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines to Bacolod residents.

Aside from the three malls in the city, Familiaran said the city has an ongoing vaccination rollout Wednesday, July 7, in Barangay Granada and City Health Office.

On July 8, the city will also continue the vaccination rollout in Barangay Felisa, Barangay 38 and Barangay Tangub, as well as in the three malls, and on July 9 in Barangay Alangilan, including the three malls.

Familiaran said the city is also waiting for additional Pfizer and Moderna vaccines from the National Government and by the fourth week of July, they also expect the delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines which were purchased by the City Government.

"Once it will be delivered to the city, we can administer the priority groups from A1 to A5," he said.

In March, the City Government already made an initial payment of more than P31 million to AstraZeneca for the procurement of 650,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government reported an 86.54 percent utilization rate of its ongoing vaccination program on July 5.

Based on Capitol data, of the 5,336 vials delivered to the different local government units, 4,618 vials were utilized while 718 vials were unutilized.

The local government units that received the July 5 vaccine deliveries were Escalante City, Sagay City, Cadiz City, Victorias City, E.B. Magalona, Silay City, Talisay City, La Carlota City, Moises Padilla, San Carlos City, Bago City, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Himamaylan City, Kabankalan City, Ilog, Candoni and Sipalay City.
