FOUR wounded soldiers from the ill-fated C-130 military plane crash in Patikul, Sulu were transported to Davao City to undergo medical operation.

The soldiers were transported from Zamboanga City to Davao on Wednesday afternoon, July 7.

This was first announced in a Facebook post by City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) and Airport Monitoring Head Generose Tecson on Wednesday.

In Tecson's post, a photo of Davao City’s 911 ambulances were seen waiting at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport, also known as Davao International Airport.

Tecson said the soldiers were transported to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Burn Unit to undergo treatment.

SunStar Davao reached out to SPMC Head Dr. Ricardo Audan for further details, but he has yet to respond.

However, in a report from dxGM Super Radyo Davao, Audan said the soldiers were initially admitted at the Zamboanga Medical Center.

He said that the wounded soldiers were expected to undergo skin grafting operations on Wednesday, July 8.

According to medlineplus.gov, skin grafting is a type of medical grafting involving the transplantation of skin. The transplanted tissue is called a skin graft. Skin grafting is often used to treat extensive wounds or trauma.

No further details, including the identities of the patients, were disclosed as of writing.

The plane crash that happened on Sunday, July 4, killed 50 soldiers and three civilians, while injuring 46 other soldiers and four civilians.

The Davao City Government recently sent six medical doctors to assist the survivors of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) C130 transport plane crash.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on Monday, July 5, that the volunteer doctors from SPMC, who represented the City Government, left for Zamboanga City around 11:50 a.m.

"As help nato (As part our help) as Dabawenyos, we sent six doctors to Zamboanga City to assist ilahang mga doctors didto kung unsa ilahang mga mabuhat para sa mga (to assist their doctors on their needs for the) survivors and those who are injured," Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

The mayor also said the doctors also brought medical supplies as additional augmentation in treating the injured individuals.

She said they are coordinating with Zamboanga City Government, Davao City's sister city, for additional needs to support the retrieval and recovery operations.
