Nanay Mo releases ‘Sabik,’ 1st of 3 singles this 2021

FILIPINO indie rock band Nanay Mo is releasing its new single “Sabik” available on all digital streaming platforms.

“‘Sabik’ is a tableau in rhythm and noise of a stoner coming to grips with maturity. Its conception was an exercise in survival. The band sifted through several alternative means of songwriting and production—Discord, Telegram, Google, and whatever technology they could grab their hands on in order to keep on creating during the pandemic lockdowns,” stated the band.

“Sabik” will be the first of three releases by the band this 2021, featuring songs written and produced during the pandemic. The singles will be accompanied by a series of videos, art and merchandise. For “Sabik,” Nanay Mo collaborated with artists Ingrid Sarayba, Jong Cardenas and John Tan illustration, animation and design.

The bass, guitars, percussion and drums for the track was done at Anton Magno’s Sunny Side Sounds studio. Jong Cardenas recorded his vocals and Kubing in his home studio.

Nanay Mo’s music is a mix of dirty garage, blues and alternative music.

“We like it good and we like it raw, curating vast influences to bust out a new window off your wall—same home, different perspective,” said the band.

“Sabik,” mixed by Magno and mastered by Cholo Hermosa of 15D Studios, is available for streaming starting July 9. (PR)
