Oro's quarantine level may remain at MECQ after July 15

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said it is possible that the city will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) after July 15 since the number of Covid-19 cases in the city is still rising.

"Siguro na kay wala pa man ta mokanaog," Moreno said.

"Ang atong target is mokanaog kita to below 30 percent sa atong Health Care Utilization Rate. It’s not going to be easy," he added.

Moreno said that one of the solutions to lower the Health Care Utilization Rate (HCUR) of the city is to improve the capacity of Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) by adding more intensive care unit (ICU) and isolation beds and mechanical ventilators.

"But maglisod man sad ta kay syempre daghan man pud pasyente ang ilang atimanon," Moreno said.

The mayor assured that the NMMC is already aware of the situation. But he added that the quarantine level of the city will continue as the average HCUR of Cagayan de Oro is hovering 70 percent and the Average Daily Attack Rate (Adar) is over seven.

As of July 6, 2021, the city's average HCUR is at 69.61 percent and the Adar is at 8.28.

"Technically, using the figures or criteria of the DOH and IATF, naa pa gihapon ta sa high risk," Moreno said.

"Di maayo nga mohangyo ta nga ikanaog [ang quarantine level]. We'll just wait for the situation to improve and let the quarantine level adjust by itself, depending on the situation on the ground," he added.
