Globe Business offers digital tools to healthcare, tourism industries

GLOBE Business, the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) arm of Globe, aims to bridge the gaps in the country’s healthcare and tourism industries through digital solutions.

The healthcare sector should be supported by technological advancements, Manelle Cousart-Suyat, industry marketing head of healthcare of Globe Business, said during a media learning session.

“It’s undeniable that there is too much pressure on the country’s frail healthcare system which was magnified multiple fold when the global pandemic hit almost 16 months ago,” she said.

Based on their data, Suyat said there are 15,378 healthcare enterprises in the country. Of these, 756 are Level 1 and Level 2 hospitals while others are clinics, laboratories, drugstores and other businesses involved in human health. Of the 756 facilities, only 256 are in the Visayas and Mindanao serving 33 million Filipinos.

One hospital roughly accounts for 133,000 persons or five hospital beds for 10,000 people.

“It’s very far from the recommendation of the World Health Organization of 20 beds per 10,000 people,” she bared.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the country’s current health expenditure reached P792.6 billion in 2019, 10.9 percent higher compared to P714.8 billion in 2018.

Given the rapid growth in the healthcare segment, the right intervention must be injected in this industry.

With Globe Business, hospitals can now innovate through the healthcare digital ecosystem through telehealth, hospital information system, cybersecurity and cloud services.

Partnership with HRRAC

Meanwhile, Globe Business is also extending its digital services to the tourism sector.

The Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. has partnered with Globe Business for a year-long campaign to provide digital solutions to the ailing tourism industry.

Through this year-long collaboration under the Globe Business Safe Recovery campaign, partner tourism organizations will be offered top-notch digital solutions to help their businesses bounce back from the lingering effects of the pandemic.

They will also be provided with access to learning sessions to increase their digital transformation capability and to platforms such as KonsultaMD and SGS Hygience Monitored Program to enable them to address consumer concerns on health and safety.

“Globe Business continues to be a partner to MSMEs as they restart tourism. Technology will play an important role in the tourism industry’s road to recovery, and Globe Business is here to guide and support businesses in their digitalization journey,” Globe Business MSME Group, Strategy and Marketing head Maridol Ylanan said in a statement.

HRRAC said it is set to mount a series of programs this year to aid Cebu-based businesses that are struggling to stay afloat amid the travel slowdown. (JOB)
