A TOTAL of 73,999 individuals in Cagayan de Oro have received their doses of Covid-19 vaccines as of July 8, 2021.
Of the 73,999 vaccinated Kagay-anons, 58,178 got their first dose of the vaccines while 15,824 were fully vaccinated.
According to the data presented by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno during the daily press briefing at the city hall, among the 73,999 vaccinees, 18,135 were frontline health care workers, 30,007 were senior citizens, 23,694 were persons with comorbidities, and 2,163 were essential frontline workers.
At present, apart from the A1, A2 and A3 priority groups, the city can only provide vaccines to individuals 50 to 59 years old among the Priority Group A4.
"Kung gusto nato nga mokanaog na ang edad sa atong A4, sa 50 below, ang akong hangyo is tabangan nato katong mga 50 above nga magpabakuna na para makuha nato ang number nga makaingon nata nga na-cover na nato ang critical mass," Moreno said.
He also encouraged the senior citizens to get vaccinated, especially since walk-ins are now allowed.
The city mayor said that they were able to start with the vaccination rollout for the A4 group in order to achieve the target set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
"Ang IATF has already gone out in the open nga kung mahimo mag target kita og 95 percent sa senior citizens by the end of this month of July," Moreno said.
"Mao na nga we had made arrangement with DOH Region 10 nga i-cover na nato ang A4," he added.
Moreno said that the city will be able to start the vaccination rollout for essential frontline workers under 50 years old once Cagayan de Oro reach good result in its vaccination count among the A2 and A3 groups.
"Kung ubay-ubay na atong na-cover then we can go down. Pero we need to show good results, labi na sa A2 ug A3," Moreno said.
"Maningkamot gyud ta nga naay steady supply sa bakuna," he added.
