Guard shoots co-worker in Zamboanga City

A GOVERNMENT security guard shot and wounded his co-worker as their drinking spree gone awry in a west coast village in Zamboanga City, the police reported Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, disclosed the incident happened around 11:15 p.m. Friday, July 9, in Purok 3, Malagutay village, this city.

Chang identified the victim as Rudy Baldado, 49, a security guard of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, while the suspect as Abdulhakim Abah, 38.

She said investigation showed that prior to the incident, Baldado, who was on duty, and Abah were having a drinking spree.

Chang said Abah allegedly grabbed the service firearm and shot Baldado when a heated altercation ensued between them while on a drinking spree.

She said the victim, who sustained gunshot wounds on his right elbow and chest, was rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment while the suspect was arrested by pursuing policemen. (SunStar Zamboanga)
