NLEX completes pavement repair program

DRIVING along North Luzon Expressway-Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (NLEX-SCTEX) is now much smoother as the NLEX Corporation completed the pavement repair of more than 140,000-squaremeter section of the expressway.

This is to ensure safe and convenient driving experience for motorists.

The tollway company annually undertakes comprehensive pavement repairs to maintain good road conditions and provide better service.

This year, the pavement maintenance works that started in February involved the asphalt overlay and patching works in the 109,886-square meter section of the NLEX and 31,600-square meter section of the SCTEX.

“Each year, we strive to fulfill our obligation to provide our customers with the best service. With the completion of the pavement repair program, we are optimistic that our motorists will have a safer and smoother drive,” said NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista.

The expressway also undergoes regular repairs like crack mapping and sealing, pothole patching, among others, to keep it in tiptop shape, guarantee a seamless travel experience and extend the road’s serviceable lifespan.

“All the enhancements that we are doing stemmed from our regular inspections and of course, from the feedback of motorists. It has been our practice to check the pulse of our customers so that anything that needs improvement must be implemented,” Bautista added.

Apart from this project, NLEX is also simultaneously undertaking the rehabilitation of Meycauayan and Bigaa bridges in Bulacan. This entails the replacement of the bridges’ girders and slabs to improve the structures thus enable the safe and unimpeded movement of people, goods, and services.

The company is also building the first 5-kilometer section of the NLEX Connector between Caloocan and España Interchanges. This elevated expressway project is under the administration’s Build! Build! Build! infrastructure program and is expected to accommodate around 35,000 motorists daily.

Earlier in 2021, NLEX completed the safety repairs of Pau Bridge in San Simon, Pampanga and Gumain Bridge in Floridablanca, Pampanga. It also opened 8.2-kilometer Subic Freeport Expressway expansion that was constructed despite the pandemic and has since facilitated the more efficient flow of goods and services between the economic zones in Clark and Subic.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, the toll road arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
