THE Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 and the Cebu Provincial Government are set to launch Aloguinsan town as the next dive destination in the province.

Dubbed as Dive7 Festivals-Dive Aloguinsan, the launching will run for three days from July 29-31, 2021 at the Hermit’s Cove.

DOT 7 is cooperating with the Cebu Provincial Government to address the town’s lack of resources, including diving equipment.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has suggested opening another diving destination and proposed Aloguinsan following the launching of the third leg of the Dive7 Summer Festivals in Malapascua Island on May 14, 2021.

DOT 7 Director Shahlimar Hofer Tamano said the agency and tourism officers of Cebu Province inspected the town. After, they presented to Garcia on July 9, 2021 the Dive7 Festivals-Dive Aloguinsan.

Garcia had asked Tamano to establish circuit diving sites in the province.

“We will follow the vision of the Province to make the whole island as a diving site,” Tamano said.

The municipalities of Moalboal, Cordova, and Malapascua Island in Daanbantayan are among the famous diving sites in the province.

“Diving helps protect the environment. If you don’t protect what is underneath, there is nothing to see there,” he said.

He said that diving also helps the local economy. (NRC, PR)
