Guv: More vaccines arriving in Negros Occidental

NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Monday, July 12, 2021, said more Covid-19 vaccines will be arriving in the province soon.

Lacson bared he recently had a meeting with the Department of Health (DOH) and it assured a steady supply of vaccines.

"They assured us that they'll be sending more vaccines every two weeks," Lacson said.

When asked if Negros Occidental will also receive the single-shot Johnson&Johnson (J&J) vaccine, Lacson said they have yet to receive advice from the DOH if they will get a share of the expected three million doses, which will arrive in the country in a few days time.

However, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. had already announced that each region of the country, including Western Visayas, will be receiving at least 100,000 doses of the single-shot vaccine.

"We still don't know if we've already been allotted the J&J vaccines. It might be that they'll be prioritized for the National Capital Region," Lacson said.

Based on records released by the Provincial Health Office, since the beginning of July, 19,645 doses of Sinovac jabs have already been administered with a utilization rate of 92 percent.

Of the 31 local government units, 13 have posted a 100 percent utilization rate.
